Common name: Tropical hibiscus or Chinese hibiscus. In temperate climates it is  a houseplant or a summer annual. In the tropics or where winters are mild,  it's an evergreen shrub to 3 m or more. Produces glossy, coarsely saw toothed leaves and funnel-shaped single or double flowers of various colors mainly during summer. Hibiscus  grow best in sun and rich soils that drain well. Feed with a slow release or organic fertilizer formulated for hibiscus. Does not tolerate frost.
